Gaza: More than 632,000 Palestinians have been forcibly displaced across Gaza since March 18, when Israel ended a nearly two-month ceasefire with Hamas, according to the United Nations' latest humanitarian update.
The staggering figure highlights the escalating human toll of the conflict, as entire families are repeatedly uprooted amid relentless military operations and collapsing infrastructure.
The UN’s report also draws attention to the peril facing humanitarian workers, noting that at least 28 aid workers have been killed since May 1. This brings the total number of aid personnel killed in Gaza since the start of the war on October 7, 2023, to 452. With shelters overflowing, food scarce, and humanitarian convoys regularly obstructed or attacked, the UN says Gaza remains one of the most dangerous places in the world for both civilians and those trying to help them.
The surge in displacement reflects the severe deterioration in security and living conditions since the collapse of the temporary truce. As Israeli operations continue to expand, particularly in central and southern Gaza, civilians are being pushed into increasingly confined and unsafe zones with few options for survival.
